We're Tag Teaming!

My friend Natalie was in town for the weekend a couple weeks ago so we decided to go to lunch and then over to Gracie Lou's.  They had the cutest line of new fabric, we fell in love!
We thought it would be perfect with this quilt.
Since there were so many different prints to choose from, and we wanted to use as many of them as we could, so we decided to TAG TEAM.  We recruited Carli to join the team.  We are each going to make 48 blocks from 8 different prints and then divide them up amoung us.  The goal for having that part done is April 30th.  I'm excited for the outcome! We'll post the progress and outcome as we go.

OCTOBER'S PROJECT AND SHOW AND TELL

Debbie's holiday hotpads were great!  She had us bring the fabric for the one you can barely see in the upper middle.  It was a easy and quick pattern, and fun to do. We also got the patterns for the cute ones you see in the photo. Who wouldn't like to get one of these for Christmas?

Tammy got busy after last month's get together with her disappearing nine-patch. She did a throw, a table topper and even a pillow.  Love the fabric!

Ok friends as you can see, we're having a good time sewing together so make sure you join us next time. We had a newbie join in the fun this month, Crystal W. It's so fun to have her coming too.  She just got her first sewing machine and is catching on really well and may already be addicted!

SEPTEMBER'S SHOW AND TELL

We had a fun time with our dissappearing nine patch quilt that Lori put together this month.  The challenge is on for us all to get them done!
Lori came with her usual inspiration pieces.  It's so much fun to see what everyone is working on.  It always makes me want to do one of each!

He's going to love it!

Watch the blog for details about our next get together and plan now to bring your show and tell too.

My First Quilt (Connie)

Camille from Simplify and Carrie from LaVieenrosie are hosting a Parade of Quilts. It's going to be so much fun to see everyone's past and present quilts.
My very first quilt was made for my daughter, Kaydee, twenty seven years ago. It was a panel that I started to hand quilt. My grandma took one look at it and told me that the poor baby was going to get her toenails stuck in the stitches! I put it in a drawer and never brought it back out.
Twenty five years later my next FIRST QUILT was a rag quilt. (You can see it there in the background, sorry I don't have a better picture). I made it for Kaydee also.
The thing I learned from making it, is that I didn't want to ever snip demin in a rag quilt again! Also it put the desire for quilting back in my life. Thank goodness for machine quilting so the people who are wrapped up in one of my quilts won't have to worry about having their toenails get stuck in the stitches!

My latest, completely finished, quilt is this one. I did it as a "thank-you" gift. It was so much fun to do because of all the bright colors and because of where it was going.

Getting Wonky With Our Wonky Blocks

We held our 2nd quilting get together and sadly there wasn't too many "getting together." May is such a busy month, we really had a hard time finding a day that worked for everyone. Hopefully next month will be better. We missed having everyone there.
It was fun to see Merry's, Sue Ann's and Carli's quilts from last month done, or at least partially done.

Lori had been working on a different pattern that is ready to be put together. It is looking so
cute. We all loved the colors. She'll have to post a picture when it's all done!
We had our first "block swap" too. That was fun!
These are the wonky blocks we got done that night. We will put them, plus more, together to make our charity quilt. It's turning out to be pretty cool looking. There were a few who had a really hard time purposely making the blocks uneven "wonky". After a couple blocks were all done, they relaxed and could see it was all part of the fun of the quilt. It's always nice when you have an excuse to be a little "OFF!"
